01. What is the goal of TaxiDriversDirect.Com?

Our goal is to better utilize the current Taxi fleet here in the Seattle/King County region and to help Taxi/For-Hire Drivers increase their daily earning potentials by giving the public an alternative/choice when they are in need of a Taxi Cab. The public is no longer limited to just calling the Taxi Companies/Associations when they need a cab.

02. Are taxi drivers listed on your website employed by you?

No. All Taxi/For-Hire Drivers in Seattle-King County are "Independent Contractors." None are employed by anyone.

03. Who actually operates TaxiDriversDirect.Com?

A small number of Seattle Taxi Drivers of King County, who know the Taxi industry here quite well, who thinks outside the box, have put together this website. We draw on the experience of others across the country, but the website is locally owned and operated.

04. Can I call more than one driver for services?

Yes. If you call one driver and he/she doesn't answer, or you don't want to leave a voicemail message, by all means call another driver on the list.

05. What happens if I have a problem with one of the drivers I called from your list?

We ask you to try to work out your dispute with the Driver. If that is not possible, please contact us directly by e-mail, phone or fax. To contact us by e-mail, you may use the e-mail link which can be found on each page of the website or send an e-mail directly to the CEO using the e-mail link in the "About Us" section. If you wish to contact us by phone, call (206) 736-7514. Please clearly state your complaint/dispute and a phone number or some way for us to contact you. If you wish to contact us by fax, the number is (206) 905-0961. Again, be sure to include your contact information. After receiving your complaint, we will investigate and take steps to resolve the problem immediately. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, you always have the option of contacting Seattle/King County Taxi Officials. Drivers listed here must adhere to our strict policies. Violation of those policies can warrant deletion from our website.

08. Is www.taxidriversdirect.com illegal?

NO.

09. Will Seattle City Officials shut down your website?

They might try. The city ordinance says that taxi/for-hire drivers may not use another person to solicit business for them, Seattle Municipal Code, (SMC 6.310.470-A2.) However, the ordinance also says that taxi/for-hire drivers are independent contractors (SMC, 6.310.110-M.) Our attorney has advised us to discuss this no further at this time. 10. Is TaxiDriversDirect.Com a taxi cab dispatching service?

No.

11. Do you actually dispatch the taxi/for-hire driver I select off your list?

No. When you call a driver on our list, you will be making the arrangements directly with him or her. We at TaxiDriversDirect.Com are not involved in that process.

12. What qualifications do the Taxi Drivers listed on your website have?

All taxi/for-hire drivers listed on our website must have a current For-Hire licenses issued by King County. In addition to that, they must meet the standards we have established.

13. Are the Taxi Cabs/For-Hire vehicles insured, safe and mechanically sound ?

Yes. All the vehicles used by our drivers are currently licensed by the State of Washington and local jurisdictions. In order to be licensed, all taxi cabs must be inspected at least yearly by Seattle Taxi Officials and they must meet the insurance requirements set by the State of Washington. Proof of insurance is filed with the State and a copy of the insurance certificate is carried in the taxi.

14. Why don't you put the taxi number or the name of the taxi company next to the drivers name on your website?

The idea behind this website is to allow (you) the taxi passenger, rider to contact drivers directly. Although every taxi driver on this website is affiliated with a taxi association, as required by law, it is the driver who will be providing the service. We at TaxiDriversDirect.Com don't wish to provide free advertising or promotion of any particular taxi association. If you want a certain taxi association, please pull out the phone book. If you want a good driver, click on www.taxidriversdirect.com

15. Who controls the contents and determines what drivers are listed on your website?

The staff at TaxiDriversDirect.Com determines that.

16. How many drivers will you have?

To ensure our standards, we intend to have up to 100 Drivers for year 2008. In 2009, 200 Drivers will be the maximum. Because we are being selective about what drivers will be listed, it will take time to reach those goals. If you know a good driver you would like to recommend to us, please e-mail that information to us, thank you.

17. Is TaxiDriversDirect.Com connected or associated with any of the taxi dispatching services in the Seattle/King County areas?

NO.

18. Why are you saying this service may not be available to Taxi companies charge account passengers?

We do not have records or access to any Taxi companies information about your account.

19. I don't have a computer or don't know how to use one; What should I do take advantage of your service?

We recommend that you ask a family member, friend, or neighbor that has access to a computer to print out a list (page) of drivers for you for the time frame you may need a taxi and you can call the driver directly from that list.

20. Why should I use your website to find a taxi driver rather than calling the Taxi companies for a taxi driver?

Using this website, you will be dealing directly with the driver which we feel is a lot more personal. Calling the taxi company, you really don't know who is going to show up for you. There are other benefits using our services, please click on the Benefits link below.
